Education nowadays teaches us many things. Things that are relevant for work, to accomplish great things, and to know about various areas like mathematics or science.
The question is, do they teach us anything relevant to being street-smart?
Don’t get me wrong, being intelligent is a good thing, but being street-smart is something I find necessary in order to survive in the harsh world out there.
Take buying diet pills for example. A friend of mine recently recommended hydroxycut and told me her experience regarding the product. An intelligent person would research its ingredients and see if it has any side effects, but a street-smart person would most likely look up where she could buy it at a cheaper price.
With the harsh world out there, being street-smart is something you need more than the intelligence and knowledge any school can give.
