Thanks to all the advertisements and laws being passed, nearly everyone is fully aware of the many health risks associated with cigarette smoking. But then again, even after all the warnings on why you shouldn’t smoke, and how bad it is for your health, how come people are smoking in the first place?
I was actually surprised to find that although Nicotine is very addicting, it’s not the main reason why smokers keep smoking. They continue smoking cigars like the Avo cigars because of its many biological and emotional benefits. Surprised? Here’s some of the list of benefits of smoking:
- Smoking exhibits a “protective effect”. It has been observed to reduce the incidence of some diseases such as endometrial cancer, Parkinson’s disease, ulcerative colitis, hypertension of pregnancy and Alzheimer’s disease.
- Cigarettes reduces psychiatric, cognitive, sensory, and physical effects of schizophrenia.
- Cigarettes also provides relief of common side effects from antipsychotic drugs.
- Another beneficial aspect of smoking is that it keeps the weight down. Cigarettes do this by:
- Keeping food in your stomach longer
- Suppressing your appetite
- Artificially speeding up your metabolism
- Smoking relieves stress
- Smoking relaxes your breathing
- Outside smoke breaks calm you down
Then again, knowing these smoking benefits can help you replace them through healthier means when you try to quit.
