Grace, my colleague and a subordinate, informed me via sms last night that her grandmother died and she might not be able to report for work until Thursday. After hearing the news, I recalled that my own grandmother has been unstable for the past few weeks and entertained the possibility of being in Grace’s situation.
A lot of scenarios piled on my head. One of which is on whether or not my grandmother is insured, and if not, what is the best way to get term life insurance quotes. There’s also the interment services fees, plus my mom’s suggestion for us to start hunting for my grandmother’s latest and nicest picture to prepare for any eventuality (which I still haven’t done).
It occurred to me how important it is to be prepared for death, not just emotionally, but financially as well. After all, it’s bad enough that your loved ones will be suffering emotionally for your loss. Having them financially suffer after your death as well might become way too unbearable.
