Early this morning, a group of students knocked on my door asking for help in their upcoming thesis. At first I thought they were soliciting funds for their project but then it turned out that they were not asking for money, rather, they were asking the neighborhood for innovative ideas that could possibly become useful. These students were engineering students in their last year in college. They are hoping to consolidate the ideas and choose which idea to implement as their electronics project. I am a graduate of engineering too so I understand how hard it is to decide on a good project.I suggested a text – sending home alarm system. For instance, someone breaks in your apartment while you are at work. The electronic device sends a text message to your phone notifying you of the intrusion. This idea was actually my college thesis and I wanted the students to develop my idea into a useful electronic device. The students obviously liked my suggestion ‘coz they were excited about it. Before they left the house, I handed them my thesis documents that I have kept for around five years already. For a moment it felt like I was sharing something important to the younger generations, but then I realized, they might just copy the whole thing! Hahaha. Anyhow, it’s their problem. Good luck to you students!
