Memorization

September 16th, 2008

Memorization can be a pain in the butt. We all have had our share of memorizing a whole page to a whole book. Here are a few tips I can say when you’re attempting to memorize.

There are a lot of techniques in memorizing a lot of things. One effective way I’ve used so far is to get the first letters and making a sort of abbreviation to them. Another effective way is to make a song about it and sing it all over in m head ’til I am able to memorize it.

If you guys have any other tips in memorizing things, feel free to comment here.

Break Time!

September 6th, 2008

It’s the semestral break here in our country. This is the time where most students relax and unwind from the stressful academic world. I sure miss semestral breaks for I don’t experience them since I now belong to the “working class”. *sigh*

It’s fun seeing my sister scream and jump for joy when she learned that her exams were over and that she did not have any other subjects to take final exams to.

Cheers for all the students out there!

Study Habits Again

August 29th, 2008

When memorizing things I like to read it aloud over and over. I sometimes imagine them literally doing whatever they are supposed to do inside my head. I use mnemonics. I memorize their first syllables and make useless sounds with it.

Sometimes I just use their first letters. I’m pretty desperate when it comes to memorizing. Ha ha. I even Google some tips, but I found these ones that I wrote the most useful.

What tricks do you do to memorize things? Ha ha. Do share!

Classical Songs

August 11th, 2008

The dorm mates of my sister advised her to listen to classical music while studying. They shared it helps to relieve her of stress and it also improves her concentration, thus helping her to study.

I have heard of scientific claims about this but I am not so sure. I have made it a mental note to myself not to believe in everything anyone says, or anything I see on the internet.

Does anyone have any idea on this topic? Feel free to comment.

Balancing

August 4th, 2008

Have I mentioned that all work and no play makes life dull? Too much of studying or working wouldn’t get you anywhere! Remember to enjoy all the simple things that life has to offer you. Have fun! Life is short! Don’t mope on a corner thinking about things you should have done right.

You might end up killing yourself if you don’t take care! Ha ha ha.

Relationships and Academics

July 23rd, 2008

Relationships can be very distracting when studying or even working. A newfound one could make you dreamy inside class and not listen to whatever the professor is saying at all. A broken one could make you lose your appetite not only in eating but in doing anything.

Don’t get too distracted when you’re in a relationship! I’m not actually saying that you shouldn’t commit to someone or whatever, just don’t get too carried away. Know your priorities and keep at it.

Abandonware

July 15th, 2008

Does anyone still have a copy of Kriya’s Typing Tutor? I’ve been looking for it for AGES! It’s helped me and my sister type faster and more accurately. We had this software since we were kids, and we can’t find it now since it’s too old and all that.

My sister prefers the old java version than the new typing tutors, and I do too, I just don’t know why.

So if anyone of you has a copy of this, please let us know! You’ll definitely be showered by our thanks and appreciation.
