Learning and Education Blog

About

This is a learning and education blog that tackles subjects that are related to, but not exclusive of, learning, education, personal growth, spirituality, literature, arts, society, school, books, and living.

Being in my mid-twenties I have been doing some research on the best way to NOT get wrinkles. After all, its at this age where those unwanted lines starts appearing out of nowhere. Scary!

I’ve been website and blog hopping, and yes, I also read www.olayregenerist.org. However, I’m still not that satisfied with the information I’m getting. I’d like to read detailed user reviews and comparisons on the top products in the market. If there’s anyone who knows a good site where I can get those type of information, then please post a comment here.

Thank God for adjustable straps

February 14th, 2010

My sister Ruth will be having a late 18th birthday celebration at the end of February. She already bought the clothes for that event last December and is quite worried that she might need weight loss diet supplements to be able to fit in those dresses in time for her birthday because she recently gained weight.

I had her try on the clothes she bought for the event just to make sure, and fortunately, she didn’t gain that much weight. Also, they apparently have adjustable straps which enabled her to still fit in the dresses perfectly. Now all we need is to setup the place for the event, and then we’re off to a fun videoke drinking party night!

So next time you buy clothes, expensive ones at that, I suggest you go for those that has adjustment straps to avoid worrying about fitting in it when you gain weight.

It’s just one more week before my sister’s wedding! My cousin Abi, ate a lot during the December festivities and still has around an inch to go before she can properly fit in her bridesmaid gown.

She’s been exercising with her fitness equipment since January and indeed lost some of her accumulated December fats. But given just seven days before the wedding, she’s now on panic mode. I suggested she join me for Bikram Yoga everyday for the next 7 days so she can successfully fit in her gown in time for the event.

Abi’s not into hot rooms, let alone stretching. Then again, desperate times call for desperate measures. Consequently, she’ll be signing up tomorrow for a one-week unlimited Bikram Yoga trial.

I came late at work today yet I did not see my colleagues in their respective desks. Wondering where they are, I asked our friendly janitor. It turned out that all of them are in my Boss’s room, staring at the new gadget he purchased. It is a Slingbox. It is a portable device that is used to watch HDTV channels on the PC. Since last month I heard some guys talking about this one, about the cool features and all, and that made me even more curious. Now that I have seen one I feel like I have to get one too! This is probably the next best thing to free satellite TV!It was so cool actually. Very sleek design and very nice interface. Now the only thing I need is a very fast internet connection that could handle streaming HD media. But hey, what’s the office bandwidth for right? Hehe.

Open to dying

January 30th, 2010

I’ve recently found out that I have never dreamed or planned my own wedding as a kid. Instead, I actually planned my whole funeral even the funeral cost, flowers to be used, etc. It was actually quite odd learning about this.

I had always been an odd kid I took liking into what everybody considers weird or strange and would eventually find it cool years after. You can say that more often than not, I was an outcast. I liked Klaus Nomi for Christ sake. It’s because of people like him that my generation would be forever creative.

I’ve read Transmetropolitan while everybody else has been reading Sweet Valley High. So strange as it is, I did plan for my own funeral. Everyone has to wear white and has to look good. I specifically said, they have to take a bath everyday and have to be fashionable when going to my wake. Music and bands will play. Then I will be cremated and my ashes would be spread out in the ocean.

I was so excited about my own plans that I emailed it to my mom making her quite upset. I don’t know, I think I’m just open to dying at any moment because I know that my life didn’t revolve around me trying to fit in. I’ve always done what I love and what I wanted. I can say that I did live my life. I think people should be more open to dying. In this way, they are opening themselves to life.

The Thing About Study Groups

January 24th, 2010

Anna showed off her new set of teeth made by the implant dentist Plano right before we started reviewing yesterday. It was decent…awesome in fact. I never really needed to have something like that done to my teeth.

After she showed her teeth, we started chatting about almost everything for four hours except about studying. I decided after awhile that it would be best not to study with someone you’re really good friends with. You get distracted with almost everything.

Because of that, i would always be seen hanging out at a coffee shop driving my head nuts by myself studying. While it seemed to work I was almost always drained to the bones. Sure studying by yourself is quite effective but it seriously feels like screwing a bullet in your own head. After a week…I decided to try studying again with Anna and the gang, true enough, we didn’t study at all. But then while we shared silly stories and laughed our asses off, I became aware that I actually need this so I can absorb more. It rejuvenated my tired tired brain making me more susceptible to absorbing more information.

It’s all about balance I must say. You get by with a little help from your friends.

I used to rely on FDA articles when choosing prescription drugs. The problem is, the FDA is no longer that effective. I found some FDA approved drugs that later on turned out to be ineffective and even hazardous to health.

Take Phentermine for example. It’s the main ingredient on the most prescribed appetite suppressants back in the 90’s. It has been approved by the FDA for having better weight loss effects than diet or exercise, but the problem is, it has a lot of side effects making it a health risk.

I was supposed to take pills that contain phentermine back when I was still in highschool. Since FDA approved it, my doctor prescribed it to me. Fortunately I did some research on the net first. Looking at phentermine reviews, I realized that it’s very dangerous to take those pills and I’d rather enroll in Yoga class. Oh well… this is just another tip for you guys.
