A few days ago I found some rapidshare links to an old game I miss so much. Since I don’t have a premium rapidshare account, I decided to buy one using paypal. My paypal account was linked to my credit card and so whenever I have no funds left, my card gets charged. And so, here’s what happened…
When I got to the online payment services of rapidshare, I chose paypal as my mode of payment. I still have around a hundred US dollars in paypal so I was confident that I won’t be charged in my card. And so I got the premium account for 7 euros and started downloading the file. Later after that, I checked my paypal transactions and saw that my funds were not deducted. I found out that I was charged in my card. Immediately, I emailed paypal to ask why my card was charged even though I still had funds. Here’s what they said:
Thank you for contacting PayPal.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. I would like
to let you know that you are valuable to us, and it is always my
priority to help you resolve your concern.
Hi my name is Tyler, and I will assist you with your question regarding
the payment you sent that was taken out from your card.
As I checked on your account you sent a payment in EUR currency and your
PayPal balance is in USD currency.
In this case, if you want your PayPal balance to be used first, you will
need to convert your balance to the currency that you’ll be sending
before you make the payment.
To add a new currency:
1. Go to the PayPal website and log in to your account.
2. Click “Profile” at the top of the page.
3. Click “Currency Balances” in the Financial Information column.
4. Select the currency to add and click “Add Currency.”
I do apologize for any inconvenience. We appreciate your patience and
understanding regarding this matter, and wish you continued success on
PayPal.
So I guess it was really my bad because I did not read all the instructions. Anyhow, I just wanted to share this one for those of you who are planning to buy stuff in other currencies.
